With disruptions caused by COVID-19, FIRST is adapting its safety and registration processes for all participants to accommodate the expanded program experience, including the FIRST Remote Event Hub. For the 2020-2021 season, all Youth Team Members are required to have a parent/guardian complete the FIRST Consent and Release Form through the FIRST Youth Registration System. This is a requirement for participation in the FIRST season, including in-person or remote team meetings, events or competitions.
The regional team registration process is the same for both the Qualifying and State Tournaments. This process consists of 3 steps:
STEP 1: REGISTER NATIONALLY:
FIRST® as an organization has moved to a single sign on within the FIRST Website. All Team Registration for each program is handled through this FIRST Portal. FIRST registration is SEPARATE from the regional North Carolina team registration.

STEP 2: REGISTER FOR A REGIONAL EVENT (TOURNAMENT):

​The criteria below must be met before a team can register regionally:
  • Teams must be registered with NC FTC. 
  • Both team coaches must be screened.
  • The national FTC team registration must be paid.
  • The regional event must be open for registration.
  • Teams may register for a maximum of two (2) tournaments per season. A third tournament is acceptable, if available.
Regional registration will take place in two phases during the time period listed below.

  • Teams may register for ONE tournament during Phase 1 and ONE tournament during Phase 2.
  • Tournament slots fill quickly so prepare in advance. We cannot move teams around to accommodate large groups after registration.

  • Student Demographics (African American, Hispanic, Caucasian, etc.)

  • Team History (rookie vs. veteran)

All payments will be made during the open regional registration period.
