State Championship REMOTE ROBOT RUN INFORMATION SCHEDULE UPDATE - 1/12/2022
ROBOT RUNS VIA REMOTE SUBMISSION Due to inclement weather forecasted for January 16, 2022, all NC FLL State Championship teams will participate in REMOTE ROBOT RUNS. Please review information below on how and when to submit team robot runs online. The deadline to submit all Robot Runs online is Thursday, January 20, 2022. The Award Ceremony has been rescheduled for Saturday, January 22nd to allow teams to record and submit robot runs to the referees for scoring. The Award Ceremony will be virtual and held in Hopin from 2:00pm - 3:30pm.
We encourage coaches to host a viewing party with their teams to watch the Award Ceremony! Gather in-person if it is safe to do so, OR join remotely as a team. Virtual 'watch party' rooms are available in Hopin for teams upon request. To set-up a 'watch party' room for your team, please email info@nc-fll.com by Thursday, January 20, 2022.
SPECIFIC INSTRUCTIONS FOR CARGO CONNECT 1. As per Update 10, the food package from the helicopter should start in your home area because there is no team on the opposite table. You will get credit for the first and third conditions if you interact with the helicopter model.
2. When taking close ups of the blue hinged container:
First show where it is on the table (if it is in a circle or on a mode of transportation) and whether the lid is completely closed.
Then pick up the container by hand and empty it out, taking a close up of the contents so the referee can confirm the number of pieces.
3. If you attempt to latch the Platooning Trucks or the Train Cars:
While taking close ups test whether the Trucks/ Train are latched by pulling back gently on the mission model. If you meet resistance, the model is latched.
4. If you plan to attempt the Sorting Center mission or if you need a particular set up of the containers in the Sorting Center for any reason:
Review pg 10 of the Robot Game Rulebook which details how to set up the Sorting Center. Make sure you understand the difference between bays (the 3 large areas) and shelves (the small areas within each bay) and where each container may go (one container per bay, blue on bottom shelf, orange on middle shelf, green on top shelf.)
As per Update 11, you may choose any legal set up for the containers in the Sorting Center but you may not use the same set up in more than one match.
REMOTE ROBOT RUN RECORDING Recording Instructions: Please click here to download the instructions below for Robot Run Recording and Uploading.
A successful robot run recording includes a Robot Inspection, Robot Run and close ups of the field after the run concludes.
All teams must submit 3 independently recorded runs to the judges at one time.
All runs must take place within the same day, within a time time frame. NOTE: We are trusting teams on the honor system. Coaches should designate a time when runs begin, and decide we are NOW BEGINNING COMPETITION RUNS. Please do not run 20 runs, and pick your best three. The goal is to create a competition environment that runs similar to an in-person or live virtual environment. Please commit to a start time AND stick to it, regardless of how the robot performs.
The form will only accept shareable links as submissions. Please upload your videos to youtube, vimeo or a cloud account to share each file.
The link to submit your robot runs is noted below. Each team will have until 6:00pm on Thursday, January 20, 2022. We will only accept one form per team, and it should include all three robot runs.
Submission Link: Click HERE to submit your robot runs to the referees by Thursday, January 20, 2022.
Please contact referee@nc-fll.com if you have any questions regarding recording your robot runs.
SCORE FEEDBACK After interviews, Referees will provide feedback in the form a digital score sheet for each team. These documents will be shared via email with each head coach submission. All scores will be sent by noon on January 22, 2022.
The leaderboard will be available online at 12pm on January 22nd at:https://www.ncfllandftc.com/state-leaderboard.html Note: The leaderboard is not an indication of award status. It only reflects robot runs scores. Scores will be added to the leaderboard as they are completed by the referees.
REMINDERS:
This is an official state robot performance run.
Coaches should not be seen or heard on camera.
Coaches are not permitted to touch the robot. Please let the students do the work.
Laptops are not permitted during official robot runs.
The Referees and Judges will be observing for gracious professionalism (GP). A GP score will be given to each team, which will be factored in to the overall deliberation at the conclusion of the tournament. The GP score is for judges only and will not be shared with teams.
