State Championship - Tertiary Competition Options 2023
ADVANCEMENT OPPORTUNITIES
ADVANCEMENT OPPORTUNITIES
North Carolina has received 4 invitations to regional and national post season events. Our top 4 ranked teams from the State Championship will have the option at attend one of the events below. Awards ceremonies will be held on each day of competition. However, advancement to World Festival and Region based Invitationals (noted below) will be assessed collectively (all 90 teams ranked), and advancement will be announced during the Sunday Award Ceremony. The ceremony will be streamed live for viewing by Saturday teams. Saturday teams DO NOT need to attend the Sunday award ceremony in person.
We encourage all teams to review the list and decide which events your team would be interested in pursuing BEFORE the Award Ceremony on Sunday, January 22, 2023.
Top ranked teams will only have a few days to decide on where they will go. Selections will be made in rank order starting with 1st Place Champion. Deciding which events are right for your team in advance, will help you make a quick decision based on what is left if your team ranks in the top 4. Alternate teams (ranks 5 - 14) will be identified just in case any of our top 5 teams are unable to attend one of the events.

WPI has been running robotics events for over 20 years and is well known in the community for running team-centric, celebratory events. We have been running an FLL Championship and FRC Off-season for 22 years. We plan on bringing that experience to this new event. It will feature a similar level of AV Production as our BattleCry@WPI off-season which will be held the weekend prior (see this video of last year's BC: https://youtu.be/i54VZZX_Cyw)
Note: This event will utilize the 2022-23 FLL Game, Superpowered, and all the current FLL Game and Participation rules. Fields will feature 2x3 borders (not 2x4s). Teams will have an opportunity to practice on competition fields upon arrival to adjust and calibrate their robots to the fields.
