The North Carolina FIRST LEGO League Challenge is back for the 2023-2024 season!    This season will consist of 11 - 12 qualifying events, two (2) semi-final events, and one (1) championship event. The number of available events is dictated by the number of registered FLL Challenge teams. Each FLL team has the opportunity to compete in one tournament.  The number of teams advancing to the NC FLL Challenge Semi-Final and State Championship will be determined based on the number of teams at each tournament. This number will be announced at the coaches meeting on the day of the tournament.

The link for Qualifier registration will be posted in Basecamp, in the NC FLL Challenge Official Coaches Forum.  Need access to Basecamp?  Complete the team participation survey and our planning team will send an invitation to join the group!

Note:  
- 
All events will be fully in-person. 
- 1st Place Championship teams while automatically advance directly from the Sub-regional Qualifier to the State Championship.

QUALIFIER REGISTRATION PREPARATION
The criteria below must be met before a team can register regionally:
  • Teams must be registered NATIONALLY with FIRST and reside within North Carolina, in order to participate in a NC Qualifying Tournament.
  • NC is a closed state, therefore teams from other states may not participate in a NC tournament. 
  • Both team coaches must be screened.
  • The national FLL team registration must be paid.
  • The regional event must be open for registration.
  • Teams may register for a maximum of one(1) tournament per season.​

REMINDERS
  • Registration fills VERY QUICKLY.  All tournament slots are filled on a first-come, first-serve basis.
  • We suggest organizations with multiple teams split the load and recruit multiple people to register teams.  We cannot move teams around to accommodate large groups after registration.
  • Teams are permitted to sign up for ONE (1) tournament, only.  
  • The tournament registration fee is $100 per team.  Upon completion of the registration form, the person that initiated registration, will receive an invoice and copy of registration.  Invoices can be paid via check or credit card (link will be in the email).  ​
  • A Team Volunteer (not the coach) will be required, however, their information will be collected AFTER tournament registration.  More information regarding team volunteer sign up will be received after registration.​
  • Teams who qualify for the Semi-final round will advance based on the brackets listed.  If you have a preference of a Saturday vs. Sunday, please be sure to consider which bracket your team is registering for.
  • Teams that attend the semi-final round and qualify for the State Championship will all compete on the same day
