North Carolina A&T State University: Advancing STEM Through Robotics Education

North Carolina A&T State University (N.C. A&T) is proud to serve as the Program Delivery Organization (PDO) for FIRST® LEGO® League (FLL) and FIRST® Tech Challenge (FTC) across North Carolina. Through its commitment to STEM education, workforce development, and community engagement, N.C. A&T provides leadership, resources, and support to thousands of students, educators, mentors, and volunteers participating in FIRST programs throughout the state.

The programs are managed within the College of Engineering (COE) by Dr. Kory L. Bennett, Director of STEM Engagement and FIRST Program Delivery Partner (PDP), who leads the strategic growth and statewide operations of NC FLL and NC FTC. As the PDO, N.C. A&T serves as the primary hub for FLL and FTC in North Carolina. Working alongside a dedicated team of staff, educators, volunteers, industry professionals, and community partners, N.C. A&T supports every aspect of program delivery, including team recruitment, coach and mentor training, volunteer development, educational outreach, event management, and strategic program expansion.

Through year-round engagement efforts, the COE helps create opportunities for students from diverse backgrounds to explore science, technology, engineering, and mathematics through hands-on robotics experiences. These programs empower young people to develop critical skills in problem-solving, collaboration, innovation, leadership, and communication while preparing them for future education and careers in STEM fields.

N.C. A&T is committed to making robotics education accessible to communities across North Carolina and proudly coordinates official NC FLL and NC FTC competitions and championship events held at venues throughout the state. By fostering partnerships with schools, nonprofits, government agencies, and industry leaders, the university continues to expand opportunities for students to engage in transformative STEM learning experiences.
With the support of Dr. Stephanie Luster-Teasley, Dean of the College of Engineering, the COE proudly champions FIRST and STEM outreach initiatives that inspire future innovators, strengthen communities, and help develop the next generation of engineers, scientists, technologists, and problem-solvers.

Inspiring Innovation. Building Leaders. Transforming Futures. Through FIRST LEGO League and FIRST Tech Challenge, North Carolina A&T State University is investing in the future of North Carolina—one student, one team, and one community at a time.
