N.C. A&T and FIRSTĀ®
N.C. A&T Scholarship

In conjunction with Caterpillar, Inc., the College of Engineering at North Carolina A&T State University will award a merit-based, renewable scholarship in the amount of $2,500 per year up to a maximum of $10,000 over a consecutive four-year period with an optional Caterpillar internship. The scholarship winner will have fully participated in a FIRST® competition as a member of an FIRST® Robotics Competition (FRC®) or FIRST® Tech Challenge (FTC®) team, during the applicant’s junior or senior high school year.  Eligible students must be admitted to and entering the College of Engineering as a full-time student in the coming academic year.  Scholarship renewal is based on maintaining good academic standing in the College of Engineering with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average, and compliance with university’s code of student conduct.

"Hello, my name is Kerrion Fraser, and I am a Computer Engineering student at North Carolina A&T State University, from Plainfield, NJ. I was a member of the Killer Kardinals team 132 in the F.I.R.S.T Robotics competition. My main job on the team was to help build the robot and fundraise for the team. Being a part of FIRST taught me many skills such as teamwork, leadership, and how I create things. Other than robotics, I enjoy listening to music, coding, and hanging out with my friends."

  • 2018 - Lakayla Baldwin - Chemical Engineering

"My name is Lakayla Baldwin, and I graduated from the Middle College at Bennett and will be attending North Carolina A&T State University in the fall as a Chemical Engineering major. Upon graduation, I was recognized as an Honors student, a National Honors Society member, and was awarded a Service Learning diploma. During my high school years, I have served as president of Sisters in Science/Robotics club, secretary of Girls Council, a National Honor Society member, a 4-H member, a Belle Ambassador.

During my summers and throughout the school year, I participated in many activities and programs including the Advancing in Math and Science Skills Program, Citizenship Washington Focus, Bennett Girls in Math MAA Tensor SUMMA, 4-H Summer Leadership Institute, SAMSA Community Town Hall, and many more activities. Outside of school, I enjoy reading, writing, and going to bookstores."

"My name is Lance Davis. I am a Computer Engineering student at North Carolina A&T from Chicago, IL. Before I went to college, I was a member of the FIRST Tech Challenge team 7074: the BOOCbots. BOOC (Building Our Own Community) is an organization that supports people in underprivileged areas and helps them become better students and innovators. I am a proud FIRST alumnus and I plan on getting more of my peers involved in helping out at the tournaments A&T hosts. "
